Discover the secret behind Kiribati's thriving spiny lobster industry! These delicious creatures, Panulirus pencillatus and P. versicolor, are the backbone of Kiribati's economy and culinary scene. But, the pandemic threw a curveball, disrupting exports and livelihoods that depend on this fishery. Stepping up to the plate, FAO's SVC4SIDS project is taking the lead!  They're rallying actors and stakeholders to supercharge the lobster value chain. In June 2023, a groundbreaking consultation on Kiritimati Island laid the foundation for a lobster revolution. Dive deep into the success story as 16 participants, including ministry officials, fisheries experts, and even hotel reps, gathered for the "Lobster Value Chain Mapping and Validation Workshop" on June 27th.  Exciting changes are on the horizon – get hooked on this journey towards a more resilient industry!
